Training Philosophy
Training is an essential part of owning a dog. It builds confidence, provides mental stimulation and strengthens the human-animal bond. You gain a better-behaved dog; the dog thrives on the interaction and your community has one less naughty or nuisance and untrained dog to worry about. We want to help each dog achieve its full potential. Whether you are looking for basic obedience or the foundation for finished level retriever work, our training programs help you get the most out of your dog.
Why It Works
At Holyoke Kennel, we offer fully immersive dog training. By this, we mean not only does your dog learn structure, basic commands and obedience; they also learn how to behave in a variety of environments - including an active household, wide open fields and around kids and strangers. We fully immerse our prospects into as many situations as we can so that the lines of communication between you and them is effective. We understand that every dog is different and that a "cookie cutter" training approach won't work, therefore, we adapt our training methods to fit each dog.
As trainers, we coach our clients that training is never done; you will be continuously maintaining what your dog has learned and ensuring that the rules and boundaries in your home remain consistent. Each program includes a 1-hour owner/handler training session, so you are fully prepared to properly handle your dog and continue their success. Know that our lines of communication will always be open for questions after training concludes.
How It Works
We provide a few different options for our immersive training programs, with the most popular being our 4-week board and train. At the core, your dog will board with us for the duration of its training, and we would provide total care. This strengthens our ability to tackle a variety of situations and environments and allows for a fully immersive experience. Each program is listed below, but please note with a consultation we are happy to discuss any specific needs that may not fit our current offerings.
